Smile National occupational standards for children's care, learning and development - level 2 from CWDC - NOS CCLD

The National occupational standards - NOS for children's care, learning and development - CCLD level 2 are available on this page of the CWDC - Children's Workforce Development Council website NOS Level 2 CCLD units

They are, what makes up the content of the NVQ level 2 qualification.

The newer level 2 certificate for the children and young people's workforce refers to them as part of the child care, learning and delvelopment/industry relevant standards.

It can be helpful if you look at what you're expected to do within your job, your role at work or at a placement, the responsibilities you have and see how the standards are reflected through that .. ie. are you expected to 'contribute to positive relationships - NOS for CCLD standard 201?
..

CCLD 201 Contribute to positive relationships
Asks you to work in ways that have you..

1. Interacting with and responding appropriately to children
2. Interacting with and responding appropriately to adults

Which involves..
1. Preparing and maintaining the physical environment
2. Preparing and maintaining a stimulating environment
3. Maintain an environment that builds children’s confidence
4. Support routines for children

CCLD 206 Support children’s play and learning

These next 4 units, 207 to 210 are the 'optional standards that link to the NVQ qualification. They enable a learner to focus on areas that interest them most or that are most relevant to their work.

Only one of the following units would be chosen to compliment the mandatory 6 units shown above. This is why, when you read through them they may not appear to apply directly or reflect what your work setting provides, what it does and what your role within it is - all 6 above will :) they are still national occupational standards that you'll be expected to be aware of and work to meet when necessary xx

CCLD 207 Contribute to the effectiveness of teams
1. Agree and carry out your role and responsibilities within the team
2. Participate effectively as a team member

CCLD 208 Support the development of babies and children under 3 years
1. Observe babies or children under 3 years as part of your everyday work
2. Provide safe physical care for babies and children under 3 years
3. Provide play activities that encourage learning and development
4. Communicate with, respond to and interpret the needs of babies or children under 3 years

CCLD 209 Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs
1. Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs by providing care and encouragement
2. Provide support to enable the child to participate in activities and experiences
3. Support the child and family according to the procedures of the setting

CCLD 210 Support children and young people’s play
1. Create a range of environments for children and young people’s play
2. Offer a range of play opportunities to children and young people
3. Support children and young people’s rights and choices in play
4. End play sessions

Values and principles of the sector
