Pancake recipe

For a traditional pancake batter try these ingredients.

2 cups flour (sifted to remove any lumps)
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk

A plate with caster sugar sprinkled over
Lemon juice

METHOD

Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl
Stir in the egg and enough milk for batter to pour easily.
Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan.
Pour quarter of the batter into the pan and move around so that it spreads out.
Flip, toss or turn the pancake over once it has slightly browned on one side. Wait until the other side has browned.
Turn the pancake out onto a plate sprinkled with caster sugar.
Squirt with a little lemon juice and add a filling of your choice (see our other thread !)
Roll up and place onto a small plate with fork!!

This amount makes about 4 pancakes (so you may want to double or even triple the quantities!! )

Magical Mammoth now has a PDF on how to make pancakes with the children!

PANCAKE DAY

Have fun and don't burn anything!!
