Hey new to the forum, hoping someone can help🤞🏻 I’m doing my level 2 diploma early years practitioner and I’m struggling with unit 203 question 1.3: identify current legislation and local guidance in relation to 1. Safeguarding children 2. Maintaining security of settings 3. Maintaining confidentiality of information and 4. Promoting the welfare of children. Would be grateful for any guidance on this😊 thank you in advance!

Hi, a warm welcome to the site and best wishes with your course xx

If you have access to the level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner handbook pages 68+ will help.

You need to identify that this is the current legislation and guidance for safeguarding, promoting welfare, security and confidentiality:
  • Promoting the welfare of children
  • United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
  • EYFS (if you work in England)

    Safeguarding children
  • Children Act 1989/2004
  • Working together to safeguard children 2018

    Maintaining security of settings
  • Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 / prevent Duty and Fundamental British Values 2015

    Maintaining confidentiality of information
  • Genral Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018
Also check with your tutor if you'll be looking at these additional publications

Information sharing advice for safeguarding practitioners

Keeping children safe in education

Hope this helps xx

Hi everyone but i'm new on here and was woundring if anyone could help me. I'm stuck on one question:
What legislation and guidance do you follow in relation to safeguarding and child protection and what are your responsibilities in relation to the settings policies and procedures around these? [K5, K6, K7, K24, K26] [U1: 1.1, 1.2, 2.3]
Identify: • Name legislation and guidance around safeguarding and child protection.
Outline: • Your own settings policies and procedures around safeguarding and child protection.
Explain: • Your own responsibilities and how you would implement the safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
• How you would access these policies and procedures.

Could someone help me.
Thank you
