Default Nursery Activities

Im on a trial next week at a day nursery so they can see if im good enough for a job. I need to plan 3 activities to do with the children (aged 1-4). I want something that they will really enjoy and something that will make me stand out! Anyone got any activity ideas that i could do? :)

Hi and weclome to the site

How about a hats and puppet dressing up bag where you can sit, turn out the bag contents and play. Maybe have some short sing song and dance nursery rhyme cards to help extend the creative activity, language, communication, large muscle/gross motor physical development.

Number float in the water tray - use a permanent marker to write on one side of 10 sponges synthetic or sea?. Play 'squeeze the sponge to soak up water, squeeze the sponge to fill the bucket' - explores concepts of fluid in & out, empty & fill. Maybe use the numbers you've written as a guide to squeezes, or float them in an ordered sequence.

Apple tasting and book resources - tree images. Maybe take a pre-made brown tree trunk in for the middle of the table and add strips of green paper to rip, tear and sprinkle over the tree trunk.

Best wishes with next week, let us know how it goes and enjoy silkysteps xx

I recently had an interview and they said my activity was good. I did a shopping game to promote communication. took a bunch of fruit in and a basket and laid the fruit out on the table then sat them down and asked them to go and buy me different types of fruit and different amounts. To gage their development beforehand i talk to them about the fruit and noted down if they knew what they where ect. The interview people said it went well. Just an idea.
Good Luck
Charlie
