Hi welcome to the site.

When thinking about your setting, the activities that happen there and the different areas that children play in would you say 1. listening to children and to adults makes sure that each and everyone's feelings, ideas, opinions and views can be expressed and understood so that you can meet the needs of children and work with colleagues to provide great opportunities for the children to lean and develop. https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ips/listening-skills.html

Speaking clearly is an effective method of communication as it helps to avoid misunderstandings.

An environment can be noisy, quiet, full of people or empty, overly warm or cold, covered in boxes or aid out so that children can come together as and when they want. Each of these situations can affect communication. What does your setting look like and how busy is it?

When you see/watch or observe someon's reaction you can usually tell it they are happy, angry, confused or sad. This tells you what you need to do next. How would you say this happens in your setting?

If you use the index in your handbook eg. this level 2 CYPW handbook look for listening to see how it happens in your setting.

Level 3 EYMP 5 on pages 291+ of this handbook may also help. Use the look inside preview and search for the words overall development and then click the link to page 290.

Hope this helps
