Hi, I work in a preschool and we just use our display boards to showcase the children's work. If they paint a picture or make a collage we pick a number and put them up with the children's names on so that people know who made what. The Early Years team said that this is what we should be doing, and it saves the hassle of having to come up with ideas for displays. We just change them after a few weeks or when we find things we ant to put up.

maybe the first thing you should be asking is what is the purpose of them? they should be to display the kids work and the best settings often let the children do the displays themselves. keep them low and simple and allow free access. i see some truly hideous "brilliant" displays of identikit adult produced kids work, at the moment perfect chicks and eggs and spring trees! booooring. the best displays are those the kids so and maintain.

We have a big display with photos that the children have brought in of themselves, their families, pets, holidays etc... Also several with free paintings, drawings and collages. Adult completed displays include healthy lifestyles board and STC sign language signs

Default displays

Hi

We have displays of the childrens work in our setting..... but recently we have put up 3 displays, with photo's on them.

We put some of focused activites ie- making playdough, baking, etc, and we also have pictures of the children doing lots of different things, and have put them under the headings of the 6 areas of learning, and under that heading, put little bullet points such as

Creative Development
  • Begin to be interested in and describe the texture of things
  • Explore colour and begin to differentiate between colours

Our EYFS lady came out to the setting, and thought they were fantastic!!

Hope this helps.

Kim
