Planning

Hi All,
Has been a while since I have posted but was wondering does anyone else have sleepless nights and stress about their planning and paperwork?
I work in the baby room and find it really hard to find time in my day to actually get obs done and then even harder to plan. I work in a private nursery and find the ammount of paper work a struggle, there are extra boxes on our obs sheets which ask for additions/changes to continuos provision, planned activities and adult support and then these are also on our individual planning sheets also. I feel like I am constantly repeating myself and get really bogged down by it all. I love my job and working with children but the paper work makes me want to quit.
Does anyone feel the same and have any tips on how I can manage my planning in a better way.

Where do your sheets come from? They sound unnecessarily complicated to me.

Written observations and planning are only useful if...

they help you to look after the child better - by finding out about the child and tailoring his experience to his needs

they tell you something about the child - likes, dislikes, interests, schemas etc

They tell someone else something about the child - so for example you are passing information on to parents about what their child likes to do when with you

If you are writing for the sake of writing to put a piece of paper in a file that is never going to be looked at again then you should question why and ask what can be done to simplify things.
