This story has been a firm favourite in our house for many years, its timeless (and ageless) story of just how great imaginative role play can be ..
The following are a few Planning - Free flow learning activity ideas..
Home corner space stations.
Silver wellies - Using aluminium foil glue pieces over donated wellies for the children to stomp and role play in.
Space helmets - Sieves, goggles, colanders, diving masks all make good 'We're going up to space' play items.
Include some clean flexitubes (like hoover pipes .. but if possible new) for breathing apparatus - or noise trumpets
take care how they are played with and that they aren't 'swung around near others
:!!
Outdoor capes - Orbit earth games ! fly around the world with capes & cloaks.
Moon surface Picnics - spead out a large double bed blanket or cream coloured throw on the floor for the 'moon.
If possible include some large pebbles or big curls of cut paper to give the 'moon some texture.
Add another smaller rug for the picnic cloth and cups, plates as wanted ..
Have fun
