we have just gone through this unit we were told to write about language barriers and obtaining help from the eydcp english as an additional language team, who can provide help for the whole setting and the parents, i have mentioned using a visual timetable for all children and using makaton and pecs, it may be useful to get the prospectus put on an audio cd in the parents language or written in the parents language all these things will help the parents feel welcome and involved etc.
hope this helps!

Brandy, would research into the use of Sign Language with preverbal babies and children be relevant?

British Sign Language is recognised as a language in the UK (since 2003). Its the fourth most widely used language.
