Library reading sessions..

If you are from a Children's Library Information service I would like to thankyou for taking the time to pop by

I contacted many branches throughout the country hoping that they would find the resources on Silkysteps useful in planning ahead for the reading & crafting sessions they intended to do with thier young audience.

Having visual representations of a book title that is to be read, is a wonderful way to make the children feel involved in the story and I wanted Silkysteps to be able to help in that aim.

So to start .. here is a collection from the website....

Spindle Spider keeps a watchful eye over our colouring picture collection.
These pictures can be used to compliment many a book's character and cut out as puppets can be used to interact with the children and bring the story to life.

Inky bear - has many activity sheets that encourage language skills and story telling techniques. They can also be used for creative purposes to blend in with your story topic.

Mischief Mouse - Crafts... these are can be used as a guide for possible paper crafting ideas within your reading/craft sessions.

Fiesty Firefly has a series of Library card templates to print and cut out !

This forum and the increasing posts our fantastic members are contributing, can be used for ideas on other activities and decorations that you could find useful in enhancing a book theme. e.g.
If you need ideas to dress up an area of the children's book section - there are a multitude of things you can do with a cotton bed sheet and some inspiration !!

I hope this has been useful - Please.... always remember if there is something you'd like to see added or have experiences to share - please post and join us in the fun!! Likewise - if you need help in finding the right activity ... someone will always be able to direct you to a suitable resource that should fill the need!!

Many thanks for taking the time to visit.
