What do you do when a child has done something you asked them to do?

eg verbal praise "Thank you, I'm proud of you, well done" etc, positive body language eg a smile or a thumbs up, make an example from their postive behaviour eg "Mary is being a helpful girl today", give the child a sticker, put a sticker on their sticker chart, allow the child to make an important choice eg the book for story time, what song to sing first etc, tell the parent/carer about the good behaviour, tell other practitioners about the good behaviour in the child's presence,

the child feels valued because you have noticed and appreciated their postive behaviour, is proud and pleased with themself, their self image, self esteem and confidence will be boosted and they will feel encouraged to act in this way again. :santahat: :snowman: :present:
