The report, 'Local Safeguarding Children Boards - A Review of Progress' was published on 27 June 2007 and was accompanied by a joint ministerial letter to Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) and their partners. By April 1 2006, every Local Authority had established an LSCB to cover their local area. Schools (including independent and non-maintained special schools) are under a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of their students under 18 years of age under the Education Act 2002 and, where appropriate under the Children Act 1989, and as such should be represented on their local LSCB. The report sets out the findings from the Priority Review on LSCBs implementation and the national survey of LSCB funding and membership that the Department for Children Schools and Families undertook. The report also sets out the work planned to support LSCBs, taking forward the Priority Review recommendations. The report can be viewed by following the link below.
