Default Bah humbug!

went for yet another interview today (primary school). Firstly went in with confidence then when I least expected it I got all flustered again, thinking it will be another no. Secondly I felt that they were superior to me as my chair height was smaller and it leaned back and made me feel uncomfoable. I will get some feedback tommorow as apparently I came a very close 2nd again, why does it keep happening?

Anyhow looking for some help, any advice on how to get the job instead of comming a close 2nd all the time? Maybe I am missing something here? My problem is that I wish I could let the see me doing the job then they will see how good I am. Been reading various forums etc and one thing came up is that some people don't do well so miss out however the person they apointed did not do well in the job.

I have another 4 jobs in the pipeline; i interview next week, 1 job shortlisted awaiting interview date, 1 have send in application form and the other one just about to fill in an application form.

Feel better for a rant.

Beth

don't lose hope!

2 very well qualified friends recently decided to go for supply work and within 3 months both were taken on by the schools they did supply for... is this a route you could take?

You're right, a lot of it is about them seeing you in the job - some people just don't interview!

I don't do well in interviews...I talk way too fast....try to include everything in an answer to ensure I have covered all bases...in short I come across as a fast speaking mad woman!:rotfl:

Some things I have learnt are-
If you are not familiar with the setting ask to be shown around prior to your interview...this will give you an opportunity to get a feel for the settings ethos.
Listen to the questions, give yourself time to answer and if you are unclear ask for clarification....I have a habit of hearing only key phrases as opposed to the whole thing!
At my last interview I was told I was too qualified.......and they gave it to an unqualified person who had stronger links with the setting....unfortunately it is sometimes who you know rather than what....:sorry:

I just wanted to say good luck. I hate interviews. I always get worked up before i go in...

But my gran once gave me some good advice. She said dont go into an interview thinking that they are interviewing you....you in the frame of mind that you are interviewing them to see if you want to work for them. It always makes me feel more calm and more 'on their level' iyswim?
