Mumps

Hi
well this morning a parent called me, her son has mumps, so he is off till next year!

my query is "is it notifiable?"

pla says dont know, havent got throught to ofsted yet! doctors dont know either

have put a notice up for parents, as he was contagious last week.

Also he is one that has had his mmr, concerned now about those who have not had it!

According to this page of the Department Of Health's website .. I'd say yes ~ But I'd of liked to think the Docs. knew who to contact !!

Notifiable diseases
Under the Reporting of injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR’95) which came into force on 1st April 1996 Pre-schools will also have to report any outbreaks of notifiable diseases to RIDDOR. Details on reporting to RIDDOR are outlined below.

Thank you, yup think i poss got the receptionist and she would pass me through to a doctor, unfortunately we have one receptionist that thinks she owns the place
