hi ellie,
i havn't done this unit yet but i am thinkin maybe health surveillance starts before a baby is born during pregnancy. free health checks promote good developement right from the early stages of pregnancy. the mother is carefully monitored too. scans, blood tests, listening to baby. at birth more tests and checks then routine checks at different stages.health education for parents. referrals where needed to specialists. surveillance continues throughout a childs young life.
immunisation is provision of immunity against disease that can kill or seriously disable children. we have a duty to protect children from disease. you may need to say what immunisations are available and what the concequenses would be if a child wasn't immunised.
hope this helps.:idea:

I've not done this one yet, I am plodding through 306 at the moment and this will be next on my list.

I've taken a quick look at page 295 in the CCLD3 textbook;

Basics are;

In pregnancy, scans, blood tests, listening to baby's heart, monitoring movement, further test if problems are expected, (amnio?)

routine checks at birth giving baby's baseline of health ( is this stil know as the apgar score?) from personal experience.

Ongoing routine checks, midwife/health visitor, doctor, immunisation programmes...

Sorry, only basics but might help! :reading:

I've submitted this one now but not had feedback on it so I am not really sure I have covered it in enough detail!
