Default activities using recycled materials

We make loads of junk models etc, but does anyone have any ideas for making things that are low cost using recyled materials.
Ihave posted 1 example under mothers day (mothers day baskets) but more ideas for other things would be greatfully recieved

Default Golf course and tourist information role play resources

Wow love the elmer elephant idea. We have in the past used the plastic milk bottles to make skittles. Rounder milk bottles do work best. Also we used cardboard boxes to make our own golf course. Each box had holes cut out of it and the children decorated them and put numbers 1 to 10. Then we used long cardboard tubes and stick a yoghurt pot on the end to make the actual golf club. A small ball of some sort and your away. The kids loved these and we had to make more golf clubs because they couldn't get enough of this activity. This was a wonderful activity to encourage the children to work together and make something special for the nursery. milk bottles are also good for easy to make musical instruments. Get the children to glue bits to them amd then fill with sand rice, beeds etc, lid on and away you go.

today we also used cereal boxes, i cut the tops off them to make them look like those file holders that have no lid. The kids decorated them with glue and bits of paper. These are going to be put in our home corner which is going to be a tourist information centre. So i am off to a reall tourist information centre on saturday to collect some freebies (hopefully). Our topic this month is called around the world in one month. i can't wait i always seem to learn something new when we do this topic.
