Reading I would talk about having a cosy book area reading stories in small groups encouraging children to talk about the story, asking how it began what happened, asking them to make up an alternative ending, providing lots of print in the environment, posters, labels etc so children know print has meaning, providing matching activities along those lines. and writing/mark making i would talk about building gross motor skills to build childrens muscles ready to write eg dancing with scarves, painting the fence with water using up and down movements, threading beads, using pegboards providing various mediums to make marks with , pens, pencils crayons, chalks, gloop, paint etc.
large scale painting ouside etc.
