Free Book: Feeling Happy Feeling Safe - Free Publication from The Home Office.

Feeling Happy Feeling Safe is a publication currently available for free from The Home Office.

My copy arrived this morning and it is excellent !!

Written by Michelle Elliot, this edition is a Home Office book only and does not feature the ISBN number ...

Ring 020 7035 4848
You will enter an automated sytem - wait for the option Home office Publications was #3 for me
When the call is answered - ask to order a publication and Quote NNB04
You'll be asked for your name, address and a contact telephone number & then in return will be given an order number.
Calls are carged at 8p per minute BT landline - mobiles and other service providers may vary - I think my call lasted for about 5 mins.
I only needed the single copy, if you intend to hand them out to parents or provide additional ones in waiting rooms, reception or for all staff members ask how many copies are available for your situation.
xx

'Teaching Children how to deal with unpleasant experiences in life - such as getting lost, being bullied, being asked for hugs and kisses by strangers or even by people the Children know - is difficult.

Difficult because every caring parent and adult wants to protect children without damaging their natural openess and curiosity about the world and its inhabitants.

Here Michelle Elliot not only offers a superb teaching tool every parent will want, but also an exciting picture book about the adventures of Mike, Emma, James and Anne. I can't recommend it too warmly '

Book Review Some Dogs Do by Jez Alborough

Adding on to this thread with details of the book - Some dogs do by Jez Alborough

Links in association with silkysteps amazon affiliate account

It's a nice read that opens up the opportunity to discuss secrets.

My copy features the DVD which is an animation of the book's illustrations, and would be great if you have access to a portable/static player, PC or laptop.

In the flow of the story line - Sid discovers he can fly, but no one at School takes him seriously and Sid feels sad.

Back at home Sid's Dad asks why he looks sad ..

Quote:

Sid sat staring at the sky, and all he said was 'dogs don't fly'
Sid's dad raised his head, 'I know a secret, Sid' he said.
'Could you keep it safe inside?'
What's the secret sid replied, he turned around and then he knew.
.

Quote:

and now you know the secret too.
Sid's happy eyes were open wide, 'I knew it .. DOGS DO FLY' he cried

'Do dogs fly? is it true? Some dog's dont', and some dogs do ..
.
Excellent for any child protection and awareness book list or resource policy.

If you use the title for training & development in looking at how to deal with situations of secrecy / requests to maintain secrecy please let us know what you did and how it went ..

Hi, I think it's recommended for use with Children 6yrs and under although I'd personally use it with older, and for many aspects of cpd - professional development.

There's more info on the Home Office website: Crime reduction and also a poster that's available as a pdf download / hardcopy - Protecting your children

hth xx

njs, you're very welcome, its a great resource to have, free or purchased xx

You can't get it anymore, I've just tried! The lady I spoke to said it was only available to download from the crime reduction catalogue - which I can't find anywhere. The Home Office website has had a revamp and everything on crime reduction prior to 7th May has been archived. If someone else has more luck than me in tracking it down, maybe you could let me know!
