Default Child Saftey Week

Hey guys
Just wondering whether any of you had any ideas for activities for Child Safety Week? We have had emergency services in, and read Little Red Riding Hood, and the children have done 'Kids risk assessments' before but were just looking for some new ideas!
Cheers lovies:teacher:

How about safety such as in 'crossing the road' - always with adults etc, there are rhymes you can use such as :-

'Before you ever cross the street,

Use your eyes, your ears, and then you feet'.

You can have road traffic and safety out if you have the resources such as a traffic lights, zebra crossing, lollipop person+ outfit and lollipop, traffic wardens and police outfits, prams. sit 'n' rides, scooters etc. If you do not have your own (or enough) invite children to bring them in themselves.

You can play 'traffic games' with traffic light cards ( make and laminate them), so children can go round with imaginary vehicles/steering wheels and stop/go/get ready whatever colour lights you hold up. We use suitable traffic music to this physical activity.

The children have also made traffic biscuits - white icing with black liqourice strips for zebra crossings and coloured smarties/jelly beans/jam on icing for traffic light biscuits.

We incorporated this theme into songs/stories/poems/painting and playdough and spoke to them of the importance of taking care when crossing the road and always with an adult (holding their hand), to use zebra or pelican crossings if possible etc

This theme could go onto when they are travelling in a vehicle and the importance of seat belts etc
