Smile Autumnal bouncy squirrels - mini topic resources

This is a great activity resource that can be used to focus on each season individually or for the autumn as local squirrel's begin to collect and gather food for the colder days of winter.

It's available to buy from the store for £2.50 where it can be downloaded and printed to build your own seasonal activities: Bouncy Squirrels

Focussing on the six areas of learning this themed topic helps providers plan focussed and freeplay activities:

CLL: Keywords: autumn, season, squirrel, tree and acorn.
Language: english, additionally spoken languages, sign, touch and squirrel
Bark, bicker, call, shout, growl, chatter, chirp, tail & body flicks/movements.
PD:
Fine motor: finger play and dexterity.
Gross motor: role play, climbing, bouncing, jumping, tail flicking and chase!
PSRN Math: Print and display an interactive acorn numberline. Remove and return pieces to promote sequence, rote and numerical familiarity.
PSED: Explore sharing, hoarding and storage, turn taking and activities that promote discovery.
KnUW: Squirrels are mammals - they are warm blooded. They come in various colours, sizes and eat many berries, fruits, leaves, nuts and shoots. Squirrels have homes called dreys.
Squirrel's from WildLondon
CD: Collage, mark make, role play, make nut and lentil noise shakers, cut & bake hazel nut biscuits.

Provide free flow access by positioning the finger puppets and woodland theatre where unrestricted, safe access is continually possible.
Plan for learning by providing information that extends and advances play - an adult, other children, resources, ideas and suggestions.

While stocks last a set of 5 - 2 adult + 3 child sized finger puppets alone can be purchased alongside a copy of the Bouncy squirrel mini topic.
