Core funding of management post, another part-time post and grant of £16,500. One member of staff will be made redundant. Others may be without a job going forward. Should alternative funding/income not be secured for management post, charity's future is itself threatened.Exposure is a multi-award winning young people's charity improving the confidence and self-esteem and employability skills of disadvantaged and young people in the London borough of Haringey, which is slashing its youth service budget cut by 75% but is targeting Exposure with 100% cut to its grant. The easy option is to target the voluntary sector.I was 14 and an in patient at a psychiatric unit. My nurse suggested I come to Exposure. Straight away I loved it as it has a fantastic atmosphere, with great people. It got me getting out of bed. It's made me realise my dream: to be a film director. It's been a pivotal part in overcoming my psychosis. I am not the only person helped by them. It would be a disgrace if it was allowed to be shut down. Gabriel Calderwood, 16"Exposure is a place I like going to because you can talk about things and show your drawings. I've developed more understanding about learning difficulties and how some celebrities have got it. It wouldn't be nice if Exposure closed because a lot of teenagers couldn't speak about their lives and how difficult they are. This is a place where they can get help." Mary Gallagher, 18"Without the work experience and skills I have gained at Exposure, I might not have got into University. Exposure has encouraged me to pursue my dream of working in the Media industry and has increased my confidence massively. At Exposure help is always on hand from members of staff if you experience any problems. I ha...ve also met some truly lovely people there. Exposure has changed my life." - Natasha Minto, 20exposure has helped me improve skills i thought where going to stay un-used. with out exposure it would take too long for my skills to be put to use. it is great for young people to interact with other young people and share their skills. it would be horrible if exposure. Luke Dixon, 15Exposure is a unique organization that brings together young people and adults, creating outstanding pieces of work and providing an opportunity for young people like me to gain skills beyond those offered at school. I have been coming to E...xposure for about two years, during which I have made some incredible friends and learnt things in at atmosphere completely different to that in school or sixth form.I feel that working for Exposure has put me in good stead for university and given me confidence in meeting new people, as well as giving me experience in writing and using Apple software. The people working here are genuinely friendly and make volunteers like myself feel welcome, which is important because teamwork is incredibly valuable in the professional world. If Exposure is cut, society will lose a truly valuable resource and young people will be deprived of support that contributes to their work. It's massively important for young people to voice their opinions and express talents through Exposure, because the benefits of the magazine existing are priceless. Kristina Volchkova, 17Even though its early days for me at exposure I already feel as if its benefited me hugely. Firstly, it has improved my ability to write for a certain publication and has helped loosen my writing up a bit, so its not so essay like nowadays!... Secondly, it has improved my confidence to a huge degree as I am quite a shy person but the staff and young people who work at exposure are very welcoming and a joy to be around and have brought me out of my shell. I have also learned a lot of skills about the media and how to use it.I believe that if Exposure was to be cut It would damage a lot of young people. Exposure have given young people a strong voice that used to be lost in the media and the chance to say how we feel about a topic or subject we feel passionately about. Young people now have a voice and its stronger than ever before. It also helps a lot of young people from all different backgrounds of life realise their potential and makes everyone feel welcome. No matter what race, ***, class, ability, sexuality or any other traits they may have, it lets any young person have control and the ability to have their own voice and get their point across clearly. If Exposure goes it will be a tragedy and many young people will be left without a support line they really need. Exposure is a place of free speech and creativity and if it goes, many young people will cease to have a voice and we'll just have to rely on adults telling us how we have to feel and surely nobody wants that?
