To date the cuts have not resulted in redundancies or hour reductions for staff. On the scale so far experienced there have been no significant reductions in the services offered. There would have been a service reduction as a result of the loss of funding amounting to £12,400 per annum which has been taken from a Carers Breaks budget to operate open access Sunday services in Northallerton and Richmond. These take effect from 1/4/11.It is proposed to continue this service in Northallerton on alternate Sundays on a self-financing basis given that the overheads for rent, heating and lighting are incorporated in our MHS's budget. Support will be provided by voluntary helpers.MHS anticipates progressive losses in income which will arise from NYCC's decision to change existing Block contract funding to Individual Service Contracts. NYCC’s expectation is that voluntary organisations will mitigate such losses by winning contracts for other services as and when they become available to tender for or by self-generation of alternative funding streams. Problems will arise unless the time lines for this transition provide reasonable opportunities to research and develop new services.
