Hi, this is so late sorry, if the assessment happened I hope it went well for you xx
If any help at all these are a few ideas ..
It's not a favourite but the storybook
'what friends do can open the door to the nature of friendships.
Friends 'can share
Friends can get cross with each other.
Friends can snatch, push, pull hair, say things that hurt and cause upset.
Friends can build stuff together, play games, organise, arrange, wait with, sit with, seek each out.
Giggle with each other, laugh with, cry with, smile at, protect each other, stand up for each other, help out when in need. Guide and contribute ideas, answer questions and feel comfortable asking questions of.
Enjoy interests together, discuss likes and dislikes with each other, agree and disagree with each other.
Friends talk to each other, listen to each other and equally important to understand, don't listen to each other.
Activity ideas ..
A line of paint/outline hand prints is an inclusive way to join up a room of people. It's a nice activity to ask if everyone is happy playing together in the room, an alternative to this is a paper chain using strips of paper with children's names on, looped to form links of a chain, or make leaves for a tree, stars for a sky, ants in long grass..
Role play 'The pirate ship friends: good pirate friends share their coins, gems, jewelry. They can count it together, sort it together and buy sea sailing items in the pirate's hook and rope store together ..
Flower bloom - cut a large, central circle of paper and add petals that have children's names, faces, a picture or a prefered colour. As each is attached ask what it's like being a friend.
What friends do that can make us sad
What friends do that make us happy
Friends don't always like what I like - fruit & veg tasting.
Who is this? is a good wall display game to identify individuals. It can be played using text based information, portrait silhouettes, baby photographs, a pet image, home, or most liked toy - which highlights likes, dislikes & attachment preferences.
This game activity reinforces and supports friendships.
'Do you know me, we are .. friends / play xx together / have long hair ..
It's a group game where one child is sat, face away or has eyes covered from the rest of the group and guesses who's approached them and spoken the words above - which don't have to be as comprehensive as the game's title. The speaking child rejoins the group for the guesser to identify who they are.
Promote eye contact and play what colour is xx's eyes. Have some coloured eye resources available for anyone that finds this activity awkward. Enable them to match a colour to a potential friend's eye colouring.
Flip and flop is a cute book that looks at how differences such as age and relationships/siblings can impact on friendship.
Friends say hello is a jigsaw resource.
