Hi, there are various ways to document your meetings depending on what they are eg. is a planning or staff meeting planned and happens differently than committee meetings?

Writing up minutes generally means to use the notes made during the meeting and write them a little more coherently in the order that topics or subjects were raised & discussed, possibly as part of an agenda? - what was said, what actions are/were needed or have been taken..

One formal way to approach it could be to write ..

Date of the meeting and time it opened/began
Who was present
Who passed in their apologies for not being able to attend
Read the minutes from the last meeting
Sign and agree that they are a true record of what was said/happened.
Discuss any 'matters arising' from those minutes and write this down
Agenda topics - these will vary greatly from setting to setting
eg.
1. fundraising events through winter
2. carpark resurfacing and voluntary one way system
3. Pantomime trip
AOB any other business - could be anything separate from the agenda or matters arising from the last meeting minutes.
Agree a date, time & place for the next meeting
Close meeting

I hope this helps xx

thanks for the tips, I did write myself some notes as the meeting took place, unfortunately I didn`t see your message until today, I managed to do it without help and it was easier than I expected and my manager was happy with it especially as she didn`t have to type it up herself, thank you again for replying.

That's excellent well done, it is one of those things that can be easier to do than think ahead about doing, add it to any list of your skills :) xx
