Help SOS Trying to get back into childcare...

Hi everyone! I've been out of the world of childcare for about two & a half years, and am looking to return. Having spoken to the manager of a setting that I'm interested in joining, I'm a bit lost concerning the changes in legislation and practice whilst I've been away. Please can anyone point me in the right direction? Thankyou!

Hi, in England, Aug/Sept 2010 the NVQ's in CCLD were superseded by the CYPW award level 1, certificate level 2 & the Diploma level 3 - NQF & QCF and in September 2012 a revised EYFS framework came into force.

Was there anything specific mentioned that makes you ask?

xx

Hi! Thanks for the info! She mentioned some legislative changes, but I didn't quite catch what she said (was on my mobile, in a windy car park....). I think it was something like UFS, or UIF. Does that make sense? I'm a tad concerned! Thanks again!

E.Y.F.S.? that would be the most significant change of late. There are a variety of links to the framework, revised development matters and details for the now 7 areas of learning & elgs on this page of the site - eyfs 2012

CRBs or the CRB is now the DBS - homeoffice, although process & fees remains relatively the same. The equality act 2010 is legislation that might have an impact on a setting's operations?

Don't be concerned :) children will explore and learn as the freedom & support to do so has always enabled, practices in the setting would change in smallish? ways. Each setting can be so different it depends what was happening prior to sept 2012.

Best wishes with any interview xx
