Default Unit 204 Equality, diversity and inclusion outcome 2.4

2.4 Describe the importance of promoting anti discriminatory practice when working with children and young people

I have a case study i am struggling with at the moment as i missed my last taught lession :(

Abigail is working as a teaching assistant, while talking in the staff room a colleague makes a derogatory comment about the background of one of the pupils.

What would you do or say if you were Abigail ?
Why is it important to challenge discrimination ?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated
