SOS Observation ... HELP

I have my first observation next week and I am NOT prepared - I completely forgot!! I've not been in my setting as long as some other people as it took a while for my references to get back to the setting's principle. So... I'm going to have to 'wing' it a bit haha!

- Procedure for a child not collected? (Don't witness this as I'm there half days)
- Security arrangers when children are outside? (Don't witness this as I'm there half days)
- What happens when the children begin the school day? (I know this as I witness it)
- Describe outdoor environment (Don't witness this as I'm there half days)
- What safety checks are carried out? (Don't witness this as I'm there half days)
- What are the hazards? (I can use knowledge for this)
- What would you do if you saw a stranger talking to the children at the fence? (Ask the person to move? Report it?)
- Where are hazardous materials kept?
- What are the procedures for administering medicines?
- What are the procedures for long term conditions such as asthma? (I know this)
- Where is waste disposed of?
- Does the school have different disposal arrangements?

Obviously I will find as much out as I can from the staff I work with, just wondered what your answers are from YOUR setting? Just in case...

Thanks
S x

Hi, even though you're not there to witness some of these, the procedure in your setting will still be the same and by knowing what happens - by asking your class teacher/mentor you'll know what to do should your hours ever change. I expect you'll cover this knowledge through a discussion with your assessor.

Take the list into your setting about their policy & procedures as each setting will have their own way of doing things xx

These criteria relate to directly to your school so can only suggest you ring and see if there's a time you can go in and talk them through. xx
