Want to be a childminder ?
I've just come across this comprehensive run down of information that anyone with a thought to becoming a Chilminder should find interesting ...
CHILDMINDING ~ from LearnDirect-advice.co.uk
OFSTED also have this PDF
Guide to Childminding to help advise.
Once you've read all that and want to know what the next step is visit.....
Childcarelink.gov.uk- Click your area of the country
- Then Click your district.
- You should find the Contact telephone number of the Children's Information Service for your area.
- Drop them an email or ring to find out when the next Childminder Pre-Registration session is going to be held.
- Don't forget to ask about applying for 'The Childminder Startup Fund' ing scheme !!
HERE .....
You can read the 'full daycare' ~
NATIONAL STANDARDS
AND
An additional set of
Guidance for Day Care & Childminding ~ these should be read alongside the above full daycare national standards
(why they don't just rewrite/update the standards is beyond me .. would save a heap of cross referencing & time ~ imo of course !!!)
You can Choose to download a Word.doc or PDF file.
- At the Pre-Registration session - you will be given an Application form to fill out and post back to ofsted (OFfice for STandards in EDucation)
- OFSTED will send you details of how to apply for a 'Disclosure' from the Criminal Records Bureau ~ this will be for yourself and for anyone else aged 16 or over who lives in your home.
- You will be required to take the ICP (Introduction to Childcare Practice) course and a First aid course within the first 6 months of registering.
- The OFSTED Registration fee is currently £14 and once paid, your Childminding Certificate will be sent and you can begin enrolling children
