Lightbulb Mad Hatters Day October 6th

Hats!
This thread was originally published to help support the fundraising campaign mad hatters day, then week. An awareness & funds initiative by the genetic skin disorder charity debra - Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association

If you use hats in any way to fundraise for a prefered cause please add on and let everyone know how it was enjoyed ..

Hats are a great resource for play ...

A few suggestions ..

Themes for planning - ourselves, people who help us, health, protection, clothes, materials, weather, countries.

CRAFT & ACTIVITY IDEAS

Using a big top hat play what's inside .. have streams of hankies/cloths tied together at a corner and pull the reams ..
Collage hats - look at the materials used to make hats and what can be used to dress up/decorate a hat.
Make hats with upturned yoghurt pots
Paper plates, with a decoration on the top of the plate. Fasten a length of ribbon on each side of the plate rim and tie under the chin.

Whilst out looking for hat names I came across an American site called Heavenly Hats Foundation owned and run by 15 yr old Anthony Leanna. It is with Anthony's kind permission that the website address is published and an offer to help with questions extended.

His aim is to supply hats to those suffering hair loss from many medical reasons.

I was amazed at the work he's doing and wondered if anyone knows of a similar organisation based in the UK ?

A link from Anthony's site is Headhuggers.org another great site with some brilliant knitting, crochet and sewing patterns for hats on - again their worthy work is in helping distribute hats to those suffering hair loss.
