SOS ERR 201 Agreed ways of working with your employer

can some one please help me I am really stuck

I have got my contract of employment but still not sure what to do

Agreed ways of working with your employer

As an employee, you have ways of working with your employer.

When starting your job, you should have been given a contract of employment stating your rights and responsibilities. To follow your contract of employment, it is important to follow your settings policies and procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Explain how you work to meet the responsibilities in your contract of employment.

You will also have a job description for the role you are carrying out within your setting which states what your roles and responsibilities are.

Using your job description, identify the ways you work with your employer.

Thanks jess.

Hi,read through it and note down what your job expects of you. For example: early years practitioner job description

When you agree to take a job and begin working for an employer/your setting's owner, the contract, your professional role and all the responsibilities involved with the job are conditions you agree to work with in order to do your job correctly.

This ERR criteria helps you to examine you contract, your role and responsibilities so that you know what you've agreed to do and how to do them.

OCR Employment responsibilities and rights

Agreed ways of working includes policies and procedures where these exist; they may be less formally documented with micro-employers. It may cover areas such as:
  • data protection
  • grievance procedures
  • conflict management
  • anti-discriminatory practice
  • equality & diversity
  • health and safety
So for example if your contract states you're expected to keep play areas safe for children and adults you are agreeing to a way of working that means making checks on the areas, identifying risks and removing the risk or if it's appropriate reporting the risk. What do you currently do to check for risks, for example in the morning before the children arrive, throughout the day when organising activities and preparing food and drink, just before children are collected and after they leave?

If you have copies of your setting's policies and procedures you'll find these expectations will be explained.

Best wishes xx
