Hi, do you have this course book -
EYE level 3 ?
Page 319+ explores the
Nativist perspective which suggests
1. Development follows a definite sequence
2. Development begins with the control of head movements and proceeds downwards.
3. Development begins uncontrolled gross motor movements before becoming precise and refined.
And then the
Environmental perspective:
'While most people agree that nature does play a significant part in physical development, the envoironmental perspective would suggest that opportunities and stimulation are important too.
Those families who are sporty, perhaps their children are sporty because their parents encourage them to throw a ball or swim from an early age.
The environmental perspective would always stress the importance of children's experiences and opportunities for stimulation. This perspective accounts neatly for the differences that we might see between children of the same age. This perspective also links neatly to neuroscience, which suggests neural pathways or connections are formed as a result of stimulation and experiences.'
The page then goes on the explore
Neuroscience and brain development.
Hope this helps a little xx
