Default A question for members who sign

Can you tell me which sign you use for 'Christmas'? There are at least three variations that I know of, I am wondering which sign is most commonly used with children.

Thanks,
Michelle

I asked a friend (who is deaf / has deaf children) and she said that there are regional variations in BSL. Where she currently is (SE) the sign they use is moving the right hand and curling it up on the top of the left hand, but some regions, mainly Scotland and the Northern regions, use the sign as if making a beard for Father Christmas.

Not sure if that helps? The second one sounds easiest to me!

I am hoping that people say the second one as easier to sign and to put into print, LOL.

I use the first one, another variation is to mime how Santa holds his sack. That is the sign for Postman and burglar, obviously with the appropriate lip pattern.

I think I've done the sack one in the past too... I can ask at sing and sign on Wednesday if they have one they would use? I guess if you are talking about signing with children you could just describe all three and say choose whichever you feel is easiest...
