It's a very brightly illustrated book that would be an ideal new term/ new children read, supporting transitional policy - suggested thread: transitional policy information

The book's shortish' page text is nicely descriptive and very attention holding.

The Dragon is lonely ~ living in his cave he is aware that everyone nearby is afraid of dragons .. indeed even the milkman refuses to deliver right outside his cave... Dragon is heartbroken, he'd never hurt anyone so why don't they like him ?

Deciding to take matters into his own 'hands he disguises himself and heads off to the local town to find some company ... reminding himself that the biggest giveaway to his identity will be his fiery breath ---- He must NOT laugh !!

With several events happening along the way the people around him flee in terror as Dragon roars with laughter. Finally he gives up his search for a friend and sadly starts his journey home ... on his way he meets someone who doesn't care what he is or who he is, she just needs help -- to light her stove !!

Together they try hard to find something funny so that Dragon's fiery laugh can begin to cook the dinner ... and eventually, with a full tummy dragon returns home happy and contented that he and the lady have become good friends.
