Smile paper craft activities using outline templates

Bird wing folds colour, cut and build a mobile of bird models with paper folded fans as wings.

Colour the templates
Cut around the bird outline and snip the small inner wing line
Cut the wing section and fold the paper back and forth on itself.
Hold the folds together and slot them through the bird's body, pull until half way through. Press the folds upwards, then fold down each wing in the opposite direction (in photo)
Secure in place by positioning one end of a short length of cord between the body and wing and secure using glue, sticky tac or an adhesive foam pads, then repeat on the other side.

Default paint and soap blowing activity

Stir up a paint + washing up liquid and water mix, and pour into small pots with drinking straws.

Place the pot on the soap dish sheet and gently blow into the liquid to create mounds of bubbles. Take prints from above using sheets of paper & see the pattern forming on the base sheet. Replace often to avoid it becoming flooded!

Where wanted, have an accompanying blow suck game where children can learn or have their awareness raised about the importance of these actions when using paint and soap mixture.

Smile Broken washing line math, measurements and cutting activity

'Oh no, the washing line's broken!'

Use this outline template to promote maths & measurement, scissor use and to explore how clothes and soft toys are dried outside.

Pinching open & relaxing to close, clothes pegs assist children with their pincer grip and hand muscle strength. Rulers familiarise children with mathematical equipment and string offers a creative element in examining, how long and far, material construction and weatherproofing.

What wet items do children find hanging outside and inside to dry?

Default making ball guided mazes with straws, paper and glue

This drinking straw maze printable can be made as simple or complex as wanted. Once the initial idea has been discussed decide what will hold the maze boundaries in place - glue, playdough, sticky pads/tape/tac and begin creating your runways.

Attach the paper to a tray, heavy card or another base so that once complete it'll be sturdy enough to be moved around, guiding the chosen ball around its course.

Offer a variety of balls that challenge the width of the maze and children's problem solving skills such as ping pong balls, marbles and beads
