what you have to do is say what play theories there are and compare them-say how they are the same or different and how some theorists agree and others disagree.

then you have to say how you might use the theories in the setting.

e.g maria montessori believed in free play as did margret mcmillan , they both thought children could learn through exploring...etc that happens in free play (add quote here) however other theorists such as frobel believed in imaginative play to help a child learn however frobel thought mathermatics was best learnt at a desk. most recent reashurch and theorists believe play is essential, "a child develops their whole self through play"(child dev book penni tassoni) but previously some theorists thought play was not important.... (search for "play is a childs work" and get a quote)

theory can be put into practice as we can now use different kinds of play to develop a childs learning for example adult led play can be used to develop a childs problem solving skills-jerome bruner talks about scaffolding where the adult role is to help the child develop skills by helping them to the top of a problem/task.

hope this helps. also i would talk about diff kinds of play physical, imaginative, co operative etc and group, adult/child led, structured/non structured

good luck if you have any more problems feel free to pm me
