I am doing the creative learning section now and been trawling the internet for help but feel really confused with it all even though other sections have been more challenging...

The task given was that I needed to design a poster which showed the stages of creative and imaginative development and how these link to other areas of development highlighted within the EYFS.

I designed a poster with 3 ages on and explained what children could do at those ages creatively. Its been sent back for resubmission saying it didnt have enough information.

I need to include : explain the stages of creative development for children
and explain the stages of imaginative play for children.

I then need to explain the role of the practitiner in supporting
• imaginative play
• child initiated imaginative play
• creative development
• music, dance and drama

then

explain why practitioners need to ensure that children have extended and unhurried periods of time to
• participate in creativity and creative experiences

2.3b • participate in imaginative play

2.3c • participate in open-ended creative/imaginative experiences

I have the early years educator handbook and literally cant find a thing!?

2.1 Explain the role of the practitioner in supporting:
a. Imaginative play
B. Child initiated imaginative play
C. Creative development
D. Music, dance and drama

Child-initiated play
In child initiated play, children make a lot of the decisions. They decide what to play with and how to play. Children also choose where to play and who, if anyone, they wish to play with.

Adult-led play
In adult-led play, the adult decides what skills, concepts or knowledge children might need and organises and activity for the children.


A. Imaginative play
To support childrens imaginative play it is important to make sure the children have the resources. This can be done by proving small word toys, and dress up. Practitioners can also support children imaginative play by joining in their play.

For example imagining you are, or pretending to be, a tree or ship, or patting a dog which isn't there.


B. Child initiated imaginative play
Child-initiated – Adults can support child initiated imaginative play by reading a story such as the bear hunt as the children may then begin their own initiated bear searches after having listened to an adult-led & read Bear Hunt story by Micheal Rosen.

C. Creative development
The children may have a basket of leaves, paper and paint left by an easel for children to initiate play.

A basket of leaves, paint & paper on a table top with an adult asking open questions about what the materials are, how they feel, the four seasons and seasonal colours.

D. Music, dance and drama
Practitoners can support children music, drama and dance, by showing them videos on it, so the children can learn about it and then act it out within their play. Practitoners can also support children by doing an activity with the children based around, music, dance or drama.

Creative learning is about how children are actively involved in their own learning, and their ability to make choices and decisions. This can be achieved through providing a creative environment, allowing exploration through play and
praising creative efforts.

Creativity is about risk taking and making connections, allowing children to explore and express themselves through a variety of media or materials including, dance, music, making things, drawing, painting and make believe and to make new things emerge as a result. Being creative is strongly linked to play and can emerge through a child being absorbed in their own actions and ideas.
Although most of us feel we know what creativity means, in educational forums creative learning and creativity can have variety of meanings. Creativity will be linked to the traditional creative arts and the development of imagination and imaginative play, while creative learning will be linked to the wider context in which children can show skills in problem solving, exploration and imaginative thinking.

• 4.3 prepare activities and resources from the holistic plans to encourage and support: a. creativity and creative experiences b. imaginative play
• 4.4 support both child initiated and adult-led: a. creativity and creative experiences b. imaginative play


can anyone help me on these please need everything completed by tomorrow morning and I'm so stuck. Thank you x
