March 1st is National Pig Day, honest!
To celebrate those cute pink porkers, why not try one of the following activites?
Make fairy cakes, top with pink icing and let the kids make the face.
Make pigs in blankets for lunch - let the kids wrap a hot dog/ veggie sausage in bread.
Make a huge piggy collage, using cut-out pictures and drawings.
Make pig masks from paper plates - glue on a yoghurt cup for the snout, and have the kids running around making piggy noises.
As a group say the rhyme
'This little piggy went to veggie-world', letting the children take it in turns to have their 'piggies' counted.
Tell the story of The Three Little Pigs.
Make a collage themed on the colour pink.
Make a collage themed on the letter 'P'.
Have a trip to a local farm.
Get the childrens to bring in their cuddly pigs and have a piggy picnic.
Teach the children about pigs, how they love to hunt truffles and actually hate to be dirty - mud baths remove fleas and ticks. Dispel a few myths!
If you come across a friendly piggy, they love to be tickled on the snout - right between the nostrils - I know 'cos a piggy told me!!
