Playdough varieties

If you're fed up with ordinary playdough, here is an alternative that you could try !!

Oatmeal & Custard

A can of ready cooked custard
Rolled oats!

Mix the two together to form a mouldable dough.
Edible, this dough is fantastic to use with the younger ones who may still be at the mouthing stage !
Use flour or icing sugar as a table covering as the dough can be sticky.

Notebook Dryer Lint Dough

Go with it....

Rip 3 cups of lint into small pieces, put in a saucepan and cover with about 2 cups of water. Carefully stir in 1 cup of flour (s/r or plain). Add a few drops of vegetable oil then stir constantly, over a low heat, until the mix is smooth and sticks together. Pour onto greaseproof paper and allow to cool. Use to make models, cover shapes, or pack into small moulds. Allow to dry fully, which can take up to a week, depending how big you make your 'thing'. Then you can paint it!

I didn't say it would be 'normal'!

just had a thought we have a coeliac child starting soon! do we need gluten free playdough???:))

Just a word of warning.....dryer lint is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE in it's 'natural' fibrous form, so don't be tempted to use it to stuff toys and the like! It does make an excellent firelighter when stuffed into a loo roll tube and tossed on the fire with the other kindling!

2 and a half cups of smooth peanut butter,
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup honey
1 cup oatmeal

Mix together then mould a little,
Munch a little!

Just trying to find where to buy large tubs of playdoh / playdough when I came across this on Coeliac.co.uk
Sarah do you use a gluten free dough now ?

2 cups water
2 tbsps vegetable oil
Food colouring
Nb 1 cup = 8oz

Place all the ingredients into a saucepan & mix over a medium heat.
Once the mixture comes together into a stiff dough remove from heat & leave to cool.
Knead well & store in an air tight container.

we dont , but think we should really!!! will chat with mum because she is fab
she gets us any ingredients we need for cooking on her prescription, and then everyone has the same!!!!

gluten and dairy free cakes last week!!

we couldnt use this as we have a no nut rule
