Notebook Paper Butterflies

A simple craft for the littlees.

You will need (per child):
1 piece of card - 10-15cm length and 6 cm wide
1 thin pipe cleaner
2 A5 size pieces of paper
crayons/ pencils
pva
2 staples (adult to use)
2 goggle eyes

Fold the card lengthways into 4 equal sections, unfold and fasten together so you have a long triangle (like the swiss chocolate thingy), this is the body. Get the kids to decorate the A5 pieces of paper (wings) and the long triangle. Fold the decorated paper in a concertina to make a fan (using the narrow width and folding the length up) and staple in the middle. Open it out so it makes a semi-circle (although not fastened at the top) and apply pva to the flat edge and stick to one side of the triangle, repeat for the other side. It's up to you whether the butterfly has a flat or pointed top part of body showing, it's personal preference really. Fold pipe cleaner into a 'V' and make a small spiral or '@' at the ends, dip folded end in pva and push firmly into the triangle at the head end for antennae. Finally attach the goggle eyes and there you have a butterfly!

even simpler...

take one wet wipe, fold in half and blob paint on it so it goes through both layers, open up twist pipe cleaner around the middle where fold was and leave to dry, one beautiful butterfly....

Default finger butterfly

Draw a butterfly template. transfer to card and cut out.
Fold butterfly in half
Make two cuts in the middle(makes strap for finger)
Open butterfly and slip finger through strap
Decorate your butterfly
Put finger through strap and watch butterfly fly.
