Default ccld3 help please

Why might it be necessary to use different techniques when observing children?

kind of a little unsure of this I know its somewhere along the lines of . Dependant of the circumstances then different observations will be necessary and one technique like checklist may not be any good for an older child or if needing to do a quick observation maybe a free description observation ?? any help would be greatly accepted thanks .
