Hi, a warm welcome to silkysteps.
If you have access to a level 3 handbook the unit chapter has useful reading - on

You're looking at being able to explain what you do in the setting to ensure children's health and their individual well-being - socially, emotionally, physically, mentally, environmentally and spiritually.
Promote health & well-being is by knowing what they involve. eg.
A safe environment - risk assessed and relevant to the age of children using it.
Good food choices, availability of water to drink, time to rest,
sleep and be active.
Appropriate clothing and shelter where inside, outside and that's respsonsive to weather changes.
Opportunities for gross motor, locomotive, whole body play and fine motor, focussed activities that help to hone smaller muscular skills.
Caring and supportive staff that see children as individuals, take time to find out about their culture and developing interests, know about behaviour and the ways that children express themselves and communicate.
A protective environment that sees the importance of balancing risk, offering choices that provide children with options that both support and challenge, and to work with parents in finding out about the healthy child programme, innoculations/immunisations, health checks and what a setting's child protection policy is about.
Planning system that involves everyone connected to a setting.
Spiritual health and well-being is promoted by the ways a setting respects and supports a child's background and lifestyle choice of home, provides opportunities for a child to be content and involved whether physically, vicariously or just by knowing their presence is valued and that a family's religious affiliation is celebrated approriately.
