Notebook Hedgerow Inhabitants

What lives in our hedgerows?

Hedging - hawthorn, blackthorn, spindle, willow, hazel, dogwood, bramble, guelder rose, field maple, yew, beech, native privet, holly.

Insects and minibeasts - butterflies (brimstone, holly blue, brown hairstreak, orange tip), slugs, snails and spiders.

Birds - yellow hammers, blackbird, chaffinch, wrens, dunnocks/ hedge sparrow, blue tit, great tit, robin and whitethroat.

Mammals - rabbits, hares, hedgehogs, weasels, voles, wood mice, water shrew, common shrew, mole, badgers, foxes, field mice, stoat, pygmy shrew and dormice.

Reptiles - adder.

Amphibians - toads, frogs and newts.
