The UK is a signatory of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, spells out the basic human rights to which children everywhere are entitled
Below are some examples of how on a day to day basis in our setting we meet the provisions of the UN Conventions.
Every child has the right to over 40 specific rights, below are some of them;
The right to life, survival and development.
The right to have their views respected, and to have their best interests considered at all times.
The right to a name and nationality, freedom of expression, and access to information concerning them.
The right to live in a family environment or alternative care, and to have contact with both parents wherever possible.
Health and welfare rights, including rights for disabled children, the right to health and health care, and social security.
The right to education, leisure, culture and the arts.
Here is how our setting meet the provisions of the United Convention on the Rights of the Child in our every day practise.
Providing a safe and warm environment
Providing equipment and resources to help children develop to their fullest potential
Participate fully with parents.
Allow children to express themselves and have their views taken into account on all matters that affect them
Provide healthy food and clean water
Allow children to play, rest and enjoy leisure
This is what I put and it has been signed off... hope it helps : )
