Safeguarding children and young people from sexual exploitation will replace the current guidance on Safeguarding children involved in prostitution, issued in 2000. It will be supplementary guidance to Working together to safeguard children. The guidance is aimed at local safeguarding children board partners, practitioners and other professionals working with children and young people.Following the review of the implementation of guidance on handling allegations of abuse against those who work with children and young people, the Government made a commitment to publish additional practice guidance. The guidance also covers practical issues surrounding exercising professional judgement along with information sharing and record keeping, taking you through the allegations process up to referral to the Independent Safeguarding Authority. The Department is currently consulting on this practice guidance and would welcome your views. The consultation closes on 7 August.
