Crossfingers Courses????

Hello,
Hope i havent posted in the wrong place, sorry if i have.
I have just completed my level 2 award for support work in schools. We were told only a month before we were due to finish that to go on to the certificate at level 2 we need a min of 6 months experience in school and working with children above reception for at least 16 hours a week, the majority of the people on my course are now trying to find a placement or having to try change the placement they have. I have been trying to get a placement in a school (not even getting a response from them) Ive got the education counsellor and local counsellor trying to help but i seem to be stuck. What id like advise on is does anyone now of any home study courses i can do to get me my full level 2 or use my award to start at level 3 which doesnt require a placement my award ive been told will only last about 2 years as things can change and if i haven't got a placement to get the certificate all the work (and money ive paid or the course) will be a waste..also all the different qualifications can be confusing so any help letting me know whats the best one will be brilliant xxxx

Hiya, I was in the same boat for a while and looked into the home study courses.
I approached our local school and asked if they would recognise the cache/ncfe qualification and they basically said no!

If the course is not on this list: https://secure.cwdcouncil.org.uk/eyp...ication-search Then it's no good to the school.

Have you tried www.do-it.org to find similar voluntary placements?

Oh and the Children and Young Peoples Workforce certificate/diploma apparently is the new course that's replacing the supporting/teaching and learning in schools. There are 3 core units and then you can add optional units to suit your career path, ie social work, specialist, health care, teaching etc. This can be studied at a local college or adult education centre but will need some voluntary or paid experience. A girl on our course is an administrator at our local social services building and another does some voluntary youth work and are ok to do the lv 2 certificate.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Lindsey xx
