Hello,

I am a little stuck with the following:

summarise the laws and codes of practice affecting work in schools

AND

explain how legislation affects how schools work

Any help would be appreciated :spin:

The Children’s Act 2004 And Childcare Act 2006
The ultimate goal is to make the United Kingdom a safer and better place for all children, to improve the well-being of all children. It also specifies the inclusion of disabled children in these aims. It also aims to provide child care and information about this to all parents and carers. It also helps with the transmission of information between agencies.

Data Protection Act 1998
This is an act to make new provision for the regulation of the processing of information relating to individuals, including the obtaining, holding, use or disclosure of such information.
The information has to be kept secure and to make sure that the information is only used by the right people and in the manner in which it should be used.

Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Special Educational Needs Code of Practice
School's are not permitted to discriminate against disabled children or staff. The aim is to make any child feel included in the everyday activities of the school and not to be left out.

U.N. Convention on the rights of the child 1989
There are 54 main articles in this convention which cover the rights of all children under the age of 18. It is the first legally binding international instrument to cover the full range of human rights including civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. It was decided that as of 1989, children needed special care and protection in a different way to adults. It also made sure that the world recognised that children have human rights too.

Health And Safety at Work Act 1974
This act was designed to protect everyone within the school and on the grounds and clearly states procedures to follow in the event of an accident.
