The role of the parent committee is explored on page 414 where actual practices for your setting can be used eg. how the setting is responsible for running itself preschool/playgroup or parent and toddler group. Organising fundraising, negotiating the lease terms with a landlord. How the setting is the employer of staff, responsibility for recruitment, wages, salariesm tax and national insurance, pensions, appraisals, contracts of employment, terms and conditions. Developing a business plan, budgeting, funding, insurance, membership fees, accomodation costs, volunteer exprenses, admission costs and publicity costs, The committee along with staff also have the responsibility for health and safety, risk assessment, insurance and first aid, as well as policy making. Making sure the Early Years framework is implemented and requirements for ratios, space, session times are met. Supervisors are responsible for preparing long, medium and short term plans as appropriate to your setting, ensuring appropriate activities for learning and development, supervision of staff on a day to day basis and reporting to the management committee on a regular basis.
