Smile Food Competency Framework - FSA

The Food competency Framework for Children and young People.
Source: The Food Standards Agency

This framework is currently aimed at the ages of - 7-9, 11-12, 14 and 16+.

Has anyone had experience of it in their out of hours/wraparound or playwork roles ?

Page 3 of this consultation study with a network of School councils shows the general concensus of what children know about diet & health by the age of 7 (and the other ages mentioned above) -Age Related Competencies

Page 4 - Consumer awareness by the age of 7

Intrigued by the comment about not having that many food tasting opportunities .. :

If you have ideas for food tasing projects, would it be possible to secure funding for it via your local food liason group members:
FSA Grant application for 2008 - 09
If like me you don't/didn't know - 'What are Food Liason Groups' lol

Page 6 - Food Preparation and Handling skills by the age of 7
Page 8 - Food Hygiene and Safety by the age of 7

Brilliant pdf & absolutely excellent information.. Age related Competencies (straight from those that it all matters to ..

Would love to hear others thoughts on this subject ...
