• The EYFS contains elements of many theorists including Vygotskys theories of adults working closely with children, observing and planning for their development and Piagets theory that children learn through play and exploring.
• John Bowlby attachment theory identified that a child’s mental health and behaviour could be linked to separation from their primary carer and that a child may display separation anxiety if their primary carer was not there for them.
• In practice attachment theories have led to the introduction of a key worker system particularly in the early years.
