Hi, what sources has your tutor recommended you use to learn about communication difficulties?

Definition of communication difficulties - http://www.ican.org.uk/What_is_the_i...ut%20SLCN.aspx

This page may also help: http://www.ican.org.uk/en/What_is_th...nd%20SLCN.aspx

You're looking to find words about disability, delay in development and learning

This is from page 101 of the older CYPW handbook

Speech, language and communication difficulties
Children's behaviour is linked to their language acquisition. Children who have difficulties expressing their needs or who are not using a d language fluently often find it harder to manage their behaviour. This means that we may observe behaviours that are linked to frustration, especially tantrums, anger outbursts, and aggressive acts such as biting. By looking at ways of improving communication, or by being good at predicting the child's needs, we can help children's behaviour. This might mean introducing pictures, or symbols such a Makaton, to support communication. Advice can usually be gained from your local speech and language team on which methods to use with individual children.
